On the Easel "Gourds"

This is what I am currently working on.  The following images show the progression from sketch to hopefully a finished work.  I haven't decided on a title yet, "Longtime Lovers" is a possibility.  Have any suggestions?
8"x10" study

Getting the placement on a 18"x24" panel using vine charcoal.

Here I am blocking in the big values and masses.

Still blocking in and adjusting values and colors.

Starting to map out the pattern on the cloth.
Putting more finish into the gourds and compote.

Nearly finished
The finished gourd painting (minus the signature). The final title I came up with is "Romeo and Juliet".

More postings soon!

I thought that I would post some images to the blog and am learning how to make this more a part of something I do regularly.  This blog is going to be going through some changes soon.  A lot of what you might see for a short period is going to be more of a practice run for me in just understanding how to make this an easy thing to do.

This painting entitled "A Boy's Life" was done several years ago, but is one that I still like quit a lot because of all the little trinkets that represent things a boy might be attracted to or remember in later years.

This isn't exactly how I found this scene but pretty close.  It is in the upstairs building next to my studio.  I love the textures and little abandoned treasures I happen on while exploring these spaces.  It also had some beautiful north light to paint by.  I remember the peaceful solitude of that space and have often thought of making it into a itinerant studio to hideout in and paint.  By the way I left a little note in the dust of the mirror.
