Looking West was inspired by receiving a invitation to do a one man show in Jackson Hole, WY. I knew that I wanted to do something with a western flair. I borrowed this 1870's pistol and combined it with an old tin type picture. The image on the tin type was of a young boy so I decided to change it a bit and ended up doing a little self portrait in period clothing. After naming the painting, Shakira (my wife) said I should have called it Inner Outlaw (maybe I should retitle it). The show is August 10th - 31st at Horizon Fine Art Gallery.

Welcome to my new blog (really my first blog). I have added this as a function in my new website in hopes of keeping everyone up to date with new paintings and I hope to also show the progress of the works as well as my inspiration for them.

This painting entitled Have Hope began at a flea market where I found this hobo character in a box of old dolls. He has the most sad expression I've ever seen. Later that day I found this Bob Hope hand puppet and I knew right away that they would go together. My Tuesday morning class thought that the hobo was Red Skelton, but we later learned that he is Emmitt Kelly.
